The Face the Camera Keeps
A headshot outlives the day it was taken. It stands in for you on the breakdown, the leadership page, the profile a client sees before they meet you — and the people who work with those photos for a living will tell you it has to look like the man who walks in, this year, with this haircut. The morning of the shoot is where that is won or lost.
On the shoot itself there may be a makeup artist for skin and shine, but no one cleans a neckline, squares a beard or tidies the hair around the ears — and those are the things a close lens finds first. A retoucher cannot give them back without the photo ceasing to look like you. Stache is the private barber who comes to the studio, the set or the office and handles the camera-ready finish before the shutter, not after.
